In a time when schools are everywhere, but, unemployment and poverty among graduates continue to rise, we must ask a difficult question: What exactly is being taught in our schools, colleges, institutes and universities? Education was meant to be a shield against joblessness, not a conveyor belt producing job hunters. If the system is failing, then the materials that fuel it, books, must be reimagined. The quality of education is determined by what learners can do with it, produce with it, create with it, contribute through it, make a living with it and not write exams, obtain grades and certificates.
