In 1987 few people (myself included) in Bukoba, Kagera region, met and formed a non – governmental organization, known as Kagera Writers and Publishers Cooperative Society Ltd. The later was registered as a Co-operative Society under the Tanzania Co-operative Law. The Head Office of the Society was in Bukoba. The main objective of the Society was to develop people to become authors and publish their manuscripts as books.
